We are on the move to get better everyday, taking one step at time to reach our destination. But the truth is we never know exactly where we’ll end up. We stay polished. We get educated. We study for—and receive—certifications. We pass tests, show up, and hold doors. We pay attention. We listen. A new job, a career move, a new adventure… There’s nothing stopping us!
We reach our destination via Stairsteps—the little increments that help us get to our desired destination or to achieve our goals. And the more we do it, the easier it gets. We know what to expect. We have experience in our back pocket and a skill set to hit up.
Every new thing we try teaches us a life lesson. We store it and go back to it—on an as-needed basis. A little reminder… You Got This! Positivity is a prerequisite to progress. If you have somewhere you are trying to reach, get on THE MOVE to feel inspired and get closer to the next level up the staircase of your own life. It’ll at least make the journey more enjoyable.
Walk it off. Get outside. Clear your head and figure out what your strengths are. If it’s swimming, running or hiking… take the first step. You don’t have to go 10 miles in one day! Bit-by-bit and you’ll be at your destination before you know it. If a 99-year-old can earn their college degree, then you can certainly pick up that book about that thing you’ve been wanting to learn! 🙂
Don’t be afraid to travel… stuff can happen anywhere! Don’t wait til you’re immobile to take that trip to Italy or your dream cruise to the Greek Isles. Do it while you’re young (at heart) and able. And if you can’t afford it yet or don’t want to venture far, there are things right in your backyard. Hiking and biking trails are everywhere… and fresh air is free! There’s also the intracoastal waterway and beach, which are available and open to everyone. You just have to get there! And the mountain view or the strawberry field—depending where you live—can’t be too far. Being in nature is a GIFT.
Do what makes you feel good and improves your quality of life, and make it a priority. Maybe it’s as simple as a bike ride, or reading a book in the park.
One of my favorite things to do at the beach is to pass by big groups of families who are setting up a barbeque and a pop-up covering, and going for a fun day with their family or friends. Full out. Maybe someone can bring a guitar and a cooler… A mini vacation with all sorts of camaraderie and sunshine!
All of these things will free your spirit to get to the next step.
And things do get easier the more steps you take. Keep the chin up buttercup, and before you know it you’ll be Mr. Big Stuff! The secret is… no matter if you’re big stuff or little stuff, you gotta be nice and work smart. Use your thick skin to be tough, and your thin skin to never stop the love and compassion. You will get to the top of the stairs.
Ooh-oo child
Things are gonna get easier
Ooh-oo child
Things’ll get brighter
Ooh-oo child
Things are gonna get easier
Ooh-oo child
Things’ll get brighter
Some day, yeah
We’ll get it together and we’ll get it all done
Some day
When your head is much lighter
Some day, yeah
We’ll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun
Some day
When the world is much brighter
