I Love A Rainy Night

The last two road trips I took from Boca to Miami were in the pouring rain. I took Jade (my Ford truck) and she kept us safe, but it was rush hour and there were a lot of puddles… and traffic. It was an exciting Springtime rain too, with some serious Snap Crackle Pop! Florida gets thunderstorms and lightning quite often in the warmer months—and it’s lovely when you’re tucked away in your house—but driving in it can be a little arduous.

We were driving to meet friends who were from as far as Seattle. I apologized for our Florida bad weather—when they were expecting sunshine—and our friend Jason said the rain was actually nice and smiled a big, warm grin. He told me that he likes rain, and that he sat on the patio of the hotel and listened to it. I love positive thinking… and that was a healthy dose.

I instantly thought HA! It’s raining Positivity! And the next day we all woke up to what we call a Florida Chamber of Commerce Day. Not a cloud in the sky, beaming sunrays, and bright blue like someone perfectly and evenly painted every corner, horizon to horizon.

We all have different weather personalities. How do you feel about a rainy night? Do you weather the storms with a good attitude?

When I told Mark, he loved the story and started singing Eddie Rabbitt’s I Love A Rainy Night—which reminded me of the gorgeous nighttime lightning photos Mark took right in our backyard. Spectacular!

I love a rainy night
I love a rainy night
I love to hear the thunder
Watch the lightning
When it lights up the sky
You know it makes me feel good

Showers wash all my cares away
I wake up to a sunny day

I love a rainy night in my hometown and the peaceful and cleansing feeling a thunderstorm can bring.
