Don’t Stop Me Now

This weekend when in West Palm Beach, Mark and I tried a unique little waterside restaurant called Darbster Bistro, named in honor of the owners’ 17-year-old poodle. We had a supersonic meal… and that doesn’t mean fast! They moved my soul—with their expertise and how much they cared—at a level greater than I could perceive. Really… The Best Restaurant we have gone to in a long time.

I ordered the Black and Bleu Burger made with blackened brown rice and lentils, caramelized onions, and blue cheese, along with a whole lotta other goodies that we all tasted and shared. You can substitute gluten-free bread for any sandwich—and I did indulge on this occasion. I mostly stay away from GF replacements, but do follow an 80/20 rule when it comes to substitutions (which also includes corn chips at Mexican restaurants… ).

I also don’t eat sugar often, and only had a lil taste of that spiritual-experience-NY-style-vegan cheesecake because our friends Jim and Lori were there with us to share it. Darbster makes it with real vanilla beans in a granola macadamia nut crust, fresh local oranges, and topped with a seasonal berry compote. The best part was I didn’t feel bad after I ate dinner… or dessert! WIN-WIN!

We all had a ball and can’t wait to go back!
